The Journey to Ministry
for
Rev. Dr. Lilisa B. Mimms
Rev. Dr. Lilisa B. Mimms was born to Everlena Sumter and the late Nelson Mimms in Paterson, New Jersey. Due to her grandparents and other seasoned prayer warriors, she received the gift of salvation and baptism in the Holy Spirit at an early age. She was a faithful and long time member of the Christian Fellowship Center and Outreach Ministries under the leadership and mentoring of Apostle Joel D. Rudolph, Sr. where she served in various capacities of the ministry. She remembers the Lord’s initial call in her youth when playing church in her backyard with her neighborhood friends, but out of fear she ran like Jonah to the other side. Throughout her “great whale experience” the urgency and will of God became so apparent that she eventually surrendered to the call.
In 2001, Rev. Dr. Mimms sought to learn more about the call of God upon her life which led her to attend the Gilgal Bible School of Ministries graduating in 2004 with academic achievements. She has also successfully completed the Minister in Training program in 2007. Both of these programs were administered at the Christian Fellowship Center and Outreach Ministries in Paterson, New Jersey.
In 2006, Rev. Dr. Mimms joined the Seminary Baptist Church in Paterson, NJ where she was licensed in 2007 and servedas an Associate Minister, President of the Women’s Ministry, Sunday school teacher and personal assistant to the Assistant Pastor under the tutelage of Reverend Alfred E. Steele. God has truly assigned her to minister to the hurts and abuses of women and youth through the empowerment of His Word. One of her favorite scriptures is Psalm 91.
Rev. Dr. Mimms has four beautiful children; Jasmine, Ali, Jamis and Josiah whom she feels blessed and honored to parent.
She has been preaching and teaching the message of salvation throughout NY and NJ, performing prayer blessings at Sweet 16’s, house blessings, Women and Youth workshops and mentoring in her secular and vocational arena. She was employed for over eleven years as a Manager for Verizon Communications until God called her to full time ministry. She is a member of the Christian Women United for Christ, professor at The Christian University and teacher in their School of Ministries, as well as, a mentor to all ages.
Her love for the study of the Word and education has allowed her to obtain a B.S. in Marketing and a Bachelor of Religious Education from Alpha Bible Institute, June 2008 where she was valedictorian. On July 18, 2009 she graduated from The Christian University Sum Cum Laude obtaining a Doctorate of Ministry, delivered the valedictory welcome address and also receiving numerous awards; Teacher of the year, Mayor Citation, Best Doctoral Thesis and the Presidential Award.
In her pursuit of God the clarion call to Feed His Sheep she stands in the role as founder and pastor of the New Beginnings Christian Outreach Ministries, Inc in Paterson, NJ which launched in January 2009 and is growing rapidly. She is delighted to be covered by Bishop Daniel and Pastor Nancy Delgado from the Third Day Missions Church in Staten Island, N.Y.
